Falko Outlines Q4 2024 and Full Year Portfolio Activity
London, 22 January 2025
Falko has provided a summary of its Q4 2024 and full year 2024 portfolio activity.
During the fourth quarter, Falko added 9 aircraft to its portfolio owing to the conclusion of the E-Jet portfolio acquisition from Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). On the trading side, 12 aircraft and 2 engines were sold comprising 3 E175s, 1 CRJ900, 7 Q400s and 1 ATR72, as well as 2 CF34 engines. Buyers were a mixture of airlines, lessors, and OEMs with a dominance of activity in North America. In addition, leases relating to 11 aircraft were extended by 3 customers. In total during Q4 2024, Falko concluded transactions relating to 32 aircraft and 2 engines.
During the whole of 2024, Falko concluded transactions relating to 102 aircraft and 8 engines. This included the acquisition of 24 aircraft with leases attached, sales of 30 aircraft and 7 engines, as well as new leases or lease extensions relating to 48 aircraft and 1 engine.
As of 31 December 2024, Falko’s managed portfolio totalled 215 aircraft on lease to 38 customers located worldwide.
Commenting on the activity in 2024, Mark Hughes, Falko’s Chief Commercial Officer stated,
“Against an improving macroeconomic backdrop compared to recent years, Falko saw another year of very strong activity levels, with total transactions involving over a hundred aircraft. A particular highlight was the portfolio acquisition from NAC which added Royal Air Maroc as a new customer and re-enforced our position as a leading lessor of small commercial jet aircraft.
In 2024, we saw considerable demand from our airline customers for lease extensions and new leases as airline requirements for aircraft capacity continued to outstrip supply largely driven by lower new aircraft deliveries than anticipated. This is reflected in the 48 aircraft lease extensions that Falko closed during the year as our customers sought to retain aircraft. 2024 also saw increased sales activity having concluded 30 aircraft and 7 engine sales to a mixture of airlines, lessors and parts companies.”
Mark added, “For 2025, our expectation is that the current imbalance between aircraft demand and supply will continue, maintaining the requirement for airlines to extend a large proportion of maturing leases.”
